Bolivian Flag Raising

August 6, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm

Bolivian Flag Raising flyer. Background is the flag which has horizontally striped red-yellow-green national flag that incorporates the national coat of arms when it is flown by the government. It has a width-to-length ratio of 2 to 3.

The City of Jersey City, Mayor Steven M. Fulop, the Office of Municipal Council and the Office of Cultural Affairs are proud to recognize the Consulate General of Bolivia, Centro de Residentes Bolivianos en New Jersey and the Bolivian community as we celebrate the 196th Anniversary of the Republic of Bolivia during the Flag Raising Ceremony on Friday, August 6, 2021.

The Centro de Residentes Bolivianos en New Jersey (CRBNJ) has served since 2003 as a non-profit organization which aims to enhance the Bolivian community in the state of NJ as well as promote Bolivian culture and heritage.  Each year, the Bolivian community joins together to commemorate Bolivian Independence at the widely successful Annual Bolivian Parade with the support of the City of Jersey City prior to corona virus pandemic.

Bolivia is named after the independence fighter, Simon Bolivar who broke away from Spanish rule and declared the independence of the Republic of Bolivia on August 6, 1825. Simon Bolivar, Andres De Santa Cruz, and other Bolivian patriots, laid the foundation for Bolivia’s great and prosperous future.

The City of Jersey City and the Bolivian community will proudly fly the flags of the United States and Republic of Bolivia high above City Hall in recognition of the cherished cultural and ethnic diversity of our community. It is also a reaffirmation of the long friendship built on common values and an abiding love for freedom.  The Bolivian-Americans continue to thrive and rise to levels of prominence and respect.  Their contributions in social, economic, educational and cultural fields have made significant impacts here in Jersey City and across the United States.

Bolivian Flag Raising Group of people hold the flag before it is raised. The national flag of Bolivia is described as a tricolor rectangle, with the colors red, yellow and green. The nationa seal appears in the center of the yellow stripe.
