Hailing straight out of Brooklyn, Winard Harper’s Sunday Series at Moore’s Lounge feature Artist has established himself as a premiere Percussionist on the Jazz scene over the last 40 years. Neil Clarke has performed, collaborated and recorded among others with Benny Powell, Taleb Kibwe, Harry Belafonte, Miriam Makeba, Arthur Prysock, Onaje Allen Gumbs, Dianne Reeves. Clarke has held a long time collaboration with Randy Weston’s African Rhythms Trio and in his long career has also been involved with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, the Broadway Production of Timbuktu, in film and television. From an early age on, Clarke was fascinated with the West African Orisa culture and has spent a lifetime studying and researching its music and philosophy.
