Pride Flag Raising

The City of Jersey City, Mayor Steven M. Fulop, the Jersey City Municipal Council, the Office of Cultural Affairs, cosponsored by the Jersey City LGBTQ+ Pride Festival, presented the Pride Flag Raising. The flag raising was held outdoors, at City Hall Plaza on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, from 12:00pm to 12:30pm.

A large group of people hold the LGBTQ+ flag before it is raised. The rainbow flag is a symbol of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBT) pride and LGBT social movements The flag consists eight colors stripes, each color with its own meaning (hot pink for sex, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, turquoise for art, indigo for harmony, and violet for spirit).
